Thanksgiving Flowers 2026: Send a Bouquet Across the US

Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26, 2026. It is the one weekend when American families try hardest to be at the same table, and it is also the weekend when many of us can’t make it. Flowers are the simplest way to be there anyway: a fall bouquet for the person cooking dinner, or a thank-you to the family who hosted you.

When is Thanksgiving?

In the United States, Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November. President Lincoln proclaimed a national day of thanksgiving in 1863, and in 1941 Congress fixed it on the fourth Thursday, so the date moves a little every year:

Canada celebrates its own Thanksgiving much earlier, on the second Monday of October (October 12 this year). The day after the American holiday is Black Friday, when the Christmas shopping season begins in earnest.

Fall flowers that feel like Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving colors come straight from the season: gold, orange, deep red, warm yellow and green. A few flowers carry them especially well:

  • Chrysanthemums. The classic fall flower, cheerful and long-lasting. Yellow and bronze mums look right at home next to a pumpkin pie.
  • Gerberas. Big, round, bright blooms in orange, red and yellow. A bouquet of them reads as pure warmth.
  • Roses in warm colors. Red and yellow roses together say “thank you” more than “I love you,” and they suit a family table.
  • Alstroemerias. Small lily-like flowers in many colors that keep their looks for days, which is exactly what you want over a long weekend.

Flowers vary by city and season. If something in the bouquet is unavailable, the florist replaces it with a flower of the same value and keeps the style and colors. Roses are never swapped for other flowers without your approval.

Who to send flowers to

  • The host. Whoever is cooking for twelve deserves flowers. Many people send them to arrive before the holiday so the bouquet is on the table for dinner; others send a thank-you after the weekend, when the house is quiet again.
  • Parents and grandparents you can’t visit. If work, distance or airfare keeps you away this year, a bouquet with a short card tells them you are thinking of them.
  • Friends who have no family nearby. Thanksgiving can be a lonely day for people far from home. Flowers make a kind surprise.
  • Someone who doesn’t need flowers at all. For a host with a full house, a gift basket can be the better choice: chocolates and treats to share after dinner.

How to send Thanksgiving flowers in the US

  1. Open the catalog for the town where the flowers are going. Prices and delivery days depend on the destination, not on where you are: start with the United States catalog and search for the town, or go straight to a city such as New York City. Delivery is already included in every price.
  2. Pick the date. The earliest delivery is the next day, and there are no deliveries on Thanksgiving Day itself. The checkout shows which days are open in that town, so choose a day before or after the holiday. It is a busy week for florists everywhere, so the earlier you order, the more days you have to choose from.
  3. Write your card message. A small greeting card with your words comes free with every order.
  4. Choose a call or a surprise. The florist calls the recipient to agree on a convenient time. If you want it to be a surprise, tick “Surprise delivery” at checkout: nobody calls ahead, and you take responsibility if they aren’t home.
  5. Pay the way you like: Visa, Mastercard or Discover, PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Zelle, or one of more than 20 cryptocurrencies. See How to pay.

We confirm the delivery by e-mail.

A local florist, wherever they live

FlowersUSSR has helped people send flowers to the people they love since 2000. A florist in the recipient’s own town arranges every bouquet and delivers it by hand; nothing is shipped in a box. In the United States, the town search in the catalog offers the towns that have a florist within reach.

If the town you need isn’t in the catalog, write to us at [email protected], on WhatsApp or on Telegram. We can often find a florist in a place that has no page yet.

And if your mother lives in Russia, her holiday comes just three days later: Mother’s Day in Russia is on Sunday, November 29.

Happy Thanksgiving, and thank you for being with us.
